A few C-class flares kept solar activity at low levels this period. The vast majority of the active regions on the visible disk were either stable or exhibited decay. The only region that experienced growth was newly numbered Region 3254 (S24W23, Cso/beta). This region was responsible for a C1/Sf flare at 14/0809 UTC, as well as a C2.9 flare at 14/1119 UTC. Despite the relatively benign changes, Region 3250 (S19W15, Cro/beta) produced a C3/Sf flare at 14/0605 UTC.
The solar kp index is unsettled, with retrograde effects slightly enhanced. The solar wind speed is currently above average, making retrograde effects moderately increased.
The solar wind environment reflected a mostly ambient-like state the first half of the period. Total field averaged 8-9 nT, the Bz component was near neutral or northward, and wind speeds were below 330 km/s. Phi was variable until just before 13/2100 UTC, moving into a mostly positive orientation shortly after. At around 14/0400 UTC, total field increased to peak near 16 nT, Bz saw southward deviations to -11 nT, and wind speeds increased to near 450 km/s. Phi was in a predominantly positive orientation. All likely indications of the onset of the CIR arrival ahead of the anticipated positive polarity CH HSS.
There is a 35% chance of solar activity, with a 20% chance of a minor event, a 5% chance of a moderate event, and a 1% chance of a strong event.
