This is Chipwitch Today, your daily source of reliable data upon which you can base your daily practice.
Solar activity reached high levels. Region 3386 (N11W76, Dki/beta-delta) Produced an X1.6 flare (R3/Strong) at 05/2221 UTC with an associated Type II radio sweep (772 km/s) as well as an associated CME off the WNW limb at 05/2236 UTC. Modelling of this CME is in progress.
The solar kp index is quiet, with no changes to retrograde effects. The solar wind speed is currently normal.
The solar wind environment was enhanced following the arrival of a CME (from 01-02 Aug). At 05/0207 UTC an interplanetary shock was observed at the DSCOVR spacecraft. Total field increased from 10 nT to 25 nT before slowly subsiding to around 5-7 nT by 05/1010 UTC. A sustained southward Bz was observed between 05/0100-0542 UTC and 05/0755-1142 UTC reaching a maximum of -21 nT at 05/0232 UTC. Solar wind speed showed only a brief increase to near 460 km/s before settling to between 340-420 km/s. phi angle was predominantly positive.
There is a 30% chance of solar activity, with a 15% chance of a minor event, a 1% chance of a moderate event, and a 1% chance of a strong event.

Alright, star children, put on your space goggles and tighten your asteroid belts, Mars has parked its cosmic caravan in Virgo. Now, I know you're thinking, "Wow, 358908034.855776548km away? I can't even find my way to the local grocery store without GPS!" But trust me, this celestial event is as close to home as your next Google search or, dare I say, your next kale smoothie.
Mars, that red hot planet of action and assertion, meets Virgo, the sign of hyper-efficiency and health nut extraordinaires. This is like putting rocket fuel in your vegan, gluten-free, fair-trade certified espresso machine. Tasks will be dispatched quicker than a Star Trek crew member in a red shirt.
Virgo, being the cosmic caretaker of our 6th House of Health and Self-Improvement, might have you trading those late-night Netflix binges for early morning gym sessions. And because Mars in Virgo loves routine more than a sci-fi fan loves a good plot twist, these new habits are likely to stick like velcro to a Trekkie's uniform.
Be warned though, space cadets, we're not all supernovas and rainbow nebulae. The downside of this celestial alignment could make us more critical than a Vulcan at a logic convention. We might find ourselves frustrated by inefficiency and lack of control – a bit like trying to navigate through a black hole with a faulty warp drive. Remember, patience is a virtue, even when your spaceship's engine is on the fritz.
So, instead of focusing on what others may be doing wrong (like confusing Star Wars with Star Trek, sacrilege!), use this time to tackle tasks requiring attention to detail with the precision of a phaser set to stun. Whether it's balancing your budget, learning Klingon, or planning to take over the world, there's no better time to start than with Mars in Virgo! So buckle up, and may the force — err, I mean, live long and prosper!
Jupiter
Jupiter is in Taurus
Jupiter is prograde at 14 Tau 12' 05", moving at 0.09 degrees per day, and is 728359932km away and approaching.
Saturn
Saturn is in Pisces
Saturn is retrograde at 05 Pis 22' 16", moving backwards at 0.07 degrees per day, and is 1320961207km away and approaching.
Well, my starry-eyed comrades, Saturn—a.k.a. the Universe's stern schoolmarm, has shimmied its way into Pisces. Now, I know what you're thinking: "What's a galactic titan doing in a sleepy, dreamy sign like Pisces?" and "How far is 1320993566.330876350km in light years?" But, don't fret, I've got you covered.
Think of Saturn's jaunt into Pisces as an unexpected visit from your least favorite aunt who insists on cleaning your room because she believes in 'a place for everything'. Except this time, instead of your room, it's your dreams she's tidying up! We're talking shaking out those dusty dreams under the bed and checking for the ones that expired back in 2005. Saturn in Pisces is here to help you declutter your dreams and turn them into reality. It's a celestial version of Marie Kondo meets Bob the Builder.
Yes, your dreams might be feeling a bit invaded right now, like when your parents discovered your secret diary. But remember, Saturn's not here to embarrass you about your teenage crush on a boy band. He's here to get you to finally admit that you still want to start that alpaca farm or write that sci-fi novel about sentient toasters. So grab a pen and paper (or a voice recorder if you're fancy) and start jotting down those dreams.
Now, if you're feeling a bit restless or anxious during this time, it's totally normal. Saturn's presence in the realm of sleep and dreams could have you tossing and turning more than a rotisserie chicken. My advice? Zen out. Meditate, take long walks, deep breathe, or nap (preferably not while walking). And definitely get a full night's rest. You might even want to hit the hay earlier than usual. Just remember, if you wake up remembering a dream about flying on a unicorn, jot it down. You never know; it might be your next big idea.
So there you have it, folks. Saturn in Pisces: a time for cosmic housekeeping and nocturnal wisdom. Don't forget to thank your celestial dad on the way out.
Uranus
Uranus is in Taurus
Uranus is prograde at 22 Tau 51' 31", moving at 0.02 degrees per day, and is 2958297205km away and approaching.
Far, far away, about 2958373587.833599091km to be precise, Uranus has parked itself in Taurus. And boy, what a cosmic episode this is turning out to be! Picture Luke Skywalker trying to train Yoda in the ways of the Force. That's right, Yoda, the master himself! Seems off, doesn't it? Well, that's kind of what we're dealing with here.
Taurus, you’re as sturdy as an X-wing fighter and steady like the Force in its purest form. But here’s the rub - Uranus is more like a hyperdrive malfunction. It's all about sudden changes, warp speed shifts, and intergalactic turbulence. While you'd rather stick to the comforts of your Tatooine homestead, Uranus is pulling a Death Star move, breaking up your status quo like Alderaan (too soon?).
Now let's talk Galactic Credits, or as you earthlings call it, 'money.' Taurus, you've got a knack for it, much like Lando had for sly deals. But with Uranus in your sign, picture it as the Rebel Alliance planning a financial revolution. Expect some serious reshuffling in your monetary Millennium Falcon. Banks might seem like they've been frozen in carbonite, and your stock markets may take a roller coaster ride scarier than escaping the trash compactor in the Death Star.
On a personal level, this transit is like a Jedi mind trick, making us rethink our relationship with money and material possessions. Are we chained down like Jabba's prized possession, or can we break free and live a life as carefree as an Ewok on Endor? Uranus, acting like a wise old Obi-Wan, makes us see that resistance is futile. Change is inevitable, much like Anakin's fall to the dark side was.
But remember, young padawans, these changes can bring stability. After all, wasn’t it after much turmoil that the Empire was finally defeated? So, buckle up, keep your lightsabers ready, and may the Force be with you during this Uranian transit. It’s time to leave the Star Destroyer and head for the safety of Echo Base.
Neptune
Neptune is in Pisces
Neptune is retrograde at 27 Pis 20' 45", moving backwards at 0.02 degrees per day, and is 4363309001km away and approaching.
Pluto
Pluto is in Capricorn
Pluto is retrograde at 28 Cap 46' 18", moving backwards at 0.02 degrees per day, and is 5062775499km away and receding.
The Sun
There is a nice balance today between your emotional side and your ego. This will promote harmony with women, the public, family members, and children. Think about talking over emotional issues with the people you are close to as this transit brings harmony and a willingness to compromise and see the others' point of view.
When the Sun and Moon are in harmonious aspect, you may not be prepared for conflict and could be inclined to avoid rocking the boat. You may give in a little too often, if only to maintain a feeling of balance and harmony, as conflict is something not only disliked, it’s something you might fear. The tendency towards too much acceptance (of the self and of others) is most prominent with the trine. Question life, or run the risk of taking things for granted.
